The Costume Party starts right here… at Delta’s Dazzling Deals!
The desire to be someone else has always lingered in mankind. Several decades ago people started organizing Renaissance Festivals, play Cowboys and Indians and coordinated Star Trek Conventions, hoping to get a “feel” of what the future may be like some day. Wearing costumes is fun and helps us in our quest to pretend we can indeed be a medieval knight, a seductive Maid Marion, a strong gladiator, a crime-fighting superhero, Zorro or even a mysterious alien.
On New Year’s Eve or any other party-time occasion that presents itself we like to express ourselves by dressing up in a costume. Australia Day is celebrated on the 26th of January and is considered the biggest nationwide public holiday. Across the entire country citizens put on their best pioneer or “country of origin” costume, or stick with Aussie coloured attires, using clothes, face paints, temporary tattoos, sunbrellas, jewellery, etc. to accessorize to perfection. They put on everything in colour schemes of red, white and blue, often throwing in some stars to reflect the flag and anything that expresses Australia’s identity and pride.
Every Halloween-lover has the urge to initiate extravagant dress parties, especially on Guy Fawkes Eve, the night when scary spooks and innocent mischief are allowed. More and more adults, youngsters and tots change into their favourite horror outfits and hit the streets looking for candy and fun. It is a pleasure to watch the kids costumes, which can represent glowing skeletons as well as a Flintstones character. A complete Transformers Megatron Deluxe 3D dress can come to live or your little girl tip-toes to the castle as a beautiful princess. All-in-all, a fancy outfit, complimenting accessories, suitable headdress, and make-up can bring to trick-or-treating the ultimate fun.
Theme parties are becoming ever so popular. The little ones love Disney themed costumes, bringing the “Happiest place on Earth” so much closer. A lot of TV and movie characters shape up during special celebrations, leading to unforgettable, and sometimes crazy, memories that will survive all time. I mean, not only for toddlers and teens, but also for the grown-ups. Womens costumes can be elegantly daring and sexy. Don’t you sometimes think about turning back the clock to relive your Disco Queen successes? What about turning into an Egyptian mummy, cavewoman or even a Gothic Princess? And if you don’t usually enjoy being at parties with tons of strangers, you can hide your identity with a mask, long-haired wig or large hood. There is no reason to be shy because everyone will be in crazy costumes and out-of-this-world outfits that will make for great conversation starters.
It is not only the social female that likes to exchange her identity for a night, but men too feel the need to wear a disguise they otherwise wouldn’t want to be caught dead in – or “undead”, if you are pretending to be a vampire. There is quite a selection of mens costumes, like the giant baby one which includes a nappy, safety pin and dummy. Elvis Presley still rocks and 1920’s gangsters are still on the prowl, defending their territory.
